Track complete shifts
Record start and finish times, odometer readings, running fares, platforms used and final shift totals.
TaxBuddie for UK taxi & private-hire drivers
Track fares, working hours, business mileage, driver costs and receipts from one synced account—whether your work comes from apps, direct bookings, account jobs, or all three.
Less admin at tax time
App statements, card payments, cash fares, fuel receipts, insurance renewals and servicing invoices can quickly become difficult to follow. TaxBuddie gives them one consistent home.
Log work while it is fresh, then review the full picture by week, month, quarter or tax year.
Record start and finish times, odometer readings, running fares, platforms used and final shift totals.
Review gross fares alongside expenses, hours and mileage so you can understand which shifts were worthwhile.
Store receipt evidence with each expense instead of searching your glovebox, camera roll and email later.
How it works
Quick to update between jobs and detailed enough to build a useful record throughout the year.
Before your first fare
Add your start odometer, choose the platforms you expect to use and begin the timer.
While you’re working
Add running earnings and costs as you go. Your active shift can resume when you return to the app.
When you park up
Enter your end mileage and final fares, then review profit, hours, expenses and exportable records.
Records that match taxi work
Different drivers have different costs and booking mixes. TaxBuddie helps you capture the source documents and work details; you or your adviser can then decide what is allowable for your circumstances.
Create your accountBusiness mileage, odometer readings, parking, tolls, cleaning, servicing and other vehicle-related records.
Platform fees, phone costs, software, card-processing charges and equipment used for the business.
Private-hire or taxi insurance records, licensing-related costs, accountancy and other professional expenses.
Bring together app fares, direct bookings and other driving income for a clearer gross-income record.
Self Assessment & MTD
Rules depend on your circumstances. Use HMRC’s official guidance or speak to a qualified adviser before deciding how to report an expense.
If your total gross trading income is more than £1,000 in a tax year, you will usually need to tell HMRC. Other circumstances can change the answer.
Use HMRC’s checker ↗HMRC has different methods and eligibility rules. For example, simplified mileage is not available for vehicles designed for commercial use such as black cabs or hackney carriages.
Read HMRC vehicle guidance ↗MTD for Income Tax began in April 2026 for qualifying income over £50,000, with further thresholds scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
Check when MTD applies ↗TaxBuddie organises driver records and exports. It does not submit tax returns or MTD updates to HMRC. You remain responsible for registering and filing when required.
